Curriculum & Instruction


    The Forney ISD Department of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment (CIA) is dedicated to ensuring our district vision of inspiring students through innovative education.  Our purpose is a dual focus on student learning and teacher development to achieve the goal of mastery of grade-level learning standards for all students and consistent implementation of our District Future-Ready Standards to empower students with tools for post-graduation success.   

    The Forney ISD CIA department is steadfast in its efforts to uphold the District’s values of relationships, learning, perseverance, excellence, collaboration, voice, and individualization.  We strive to partner with all stakeholders to establish clear curriculum and assessment goals, design effective processes, and enact necessary improvements based on assessment trends, experiential data, and reflections on instructional practices.  We believe all students can and should experience success, and we are committed to the development of equitable, rigorous, and innovative learning experiences for every child.

    Department of CIA is responsible for:

    • Development and revision of curriculum goals and design processes

    • Development and facilitation of District-issued common assessments

    • Construction and facilitation of District-issued Future-Ready Curriculum

    • Design and facilitation of teacher learning opportunities targeting instructional best practices, increasing student achievement, closing achievement gaps, and post-graduation readiness

    • Development and facilitation of selection processes for instructional resources
