Dear Forney Family Parents & Staff,
Happy Forney Family #Fri-Yay! We finished our first week of virtual learning. Today is International Day of Happiness, and we will not let rain or social distancing dampen our spirit.
Forney Family Movie Night Tomorrow
To celebrate we’re asking everyone to join us for a Forney Family Movie Night, all while staying safely at-home with your family.
Tomorrow evening, please share your family picture and what you're watching with us on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram using the #ForneyFamilyMovieNight.
IMDB has FREE movies through IMDB TV or Fire devices! Visit www.imdb.com/tv, create a FREE account and find a great FREE movie for your family to enjoy.
Support Your Local Businesses
In order to support our Forney Family, we want to encourage you to support our local businesses. We have a list on our website at www.forneyisd.net/virtual that are offering services during this time.
If you missed our evening Facebook live from Dr. Terry’s earlier, we modeled our new Forney Family staff shirts we’re launching early! Thanks to Grace for Life and Big Jay’s for helping us get them so quickly today. If our community members would like to buy one of our shirts, please contact Grace and Big Jay’s. Grace is offering a portion of proceeds to the Forney Food Pantry for anyone that orders before Monday.
The shirts say “This is What Makes Us #ForneyFamily” and “More than a district, more than a community, A Forney Family.”
Resource of Services Being Provided for our Community
Also, we’re planning to continue our Friday Community Resource pick-ups that will include food boxes, toiletry items and school supplies. Our Forney Family is working to take care of each other and get better every day.
Governors State of Emergency, Forney ISD moving to Tier 2 Operations
With Gov. Abbott’s proclamation yesterday, Forney ISD will move to what we call Tier 2 Operations. This means campus facilities are closed to the public, but allow our drive throughs (Grab & Go, Tech Hub and Friday Community Resources) to continue at this time. We’re shrinking our on-site Core Response team to an even smaller group for the protection of our staff.
Grab & Go Meal Times OPENING AT BLACKBURN, 7-11 a.m.
Starting Monday, March 23, we’re opening another Grab & Go Meal location at Blackburn Elementary. Grab & Go meals are now available 7-11 a.m. every weekday during virtual learning at Blackburn, Lewis, Rhea and Smith. Food Services has provided an updated menu on their website.
Tech Hubs at Smith & Rhea
If you are a 3rd-12th grader that does not have access to a device at home or needs a Chromebook repair, visit our drive through Tech Hubs at the back of Rhea and Smith on Monday from 7-11 a.m. Due to the rapidly evolving COVID-19 pandemic, we do not know how much longer we will be able to continue Chromebook check-out. We are evaluating the situation daily.
Additional Virtual Learning resources have been posted on our website, and we’ll continue to add more and update information. Keep sharing your learning pictures with us on social media.
Wi-Fi Access Updated
Companies offering wi-fi services and drive through wi-fi from businesses are also listed on our websiteand we’ll continue to update as we learn more.
