Forney ISD invites community members and stakeholders to provide feedback on our applications for federal funds under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) for the upcoming 2025-26 school year. Your input is vital in helping us ensure these resources best support our students and schools.

Overview of Federal Grants and Intended Use of Funds
Below are the federal grants for which Forney ISD is applying, including their purpose and how we plan to use the funds:
Title I, Part A – Improving Basic Programs
Award Amount: $1,328,905
Intent and Purpose: Title I, Part A provides supplemental resources to Local Education Agencies (LEAs) to help schools with high concentrations of students from low-income families. The goal is to provide a high-quality education that enables all children to meet challenging state academic standards.
Forney ISD's Intended Use of Funds:
- Salaries for essential personnel
- Programs and services to address the needs of homeless students
- Professional and contracted services
- Targeted support for at-risk students
- Enhancing curricular resources
- Professional development for staff
- Reading and Language Arts (RLA) interventions
- Supplemental curricular materials
Title II, Part A – Supporting Effective Instruction
Award Amount: $470,734
Intent and Purpose: This program provides resources to LEAs to:
- Increase student achievement consistent with challenging state academic standards.
- Improve the quality and effectiveness of teachers, principals, and other school leaders.
- Increase the number of effective educators who improve student academic achievement.
- Provide low-income and minority students greater access to effective teachers and leaders.
- Support educators in their efforts to improve overall instructional quality and ensure equitable educational opportunities for all students.
Forney ISD's Intended Use of Funds:
- Salaries for instructional support staff
- Professional development for teachers and leaders
- Leadership development programs for school administrators
Title III, Part A – Language Instruction for English Learners and Immigrant Students
Award Amount: $239,218
Intent and Purpose: Title III, Part A of ESSA aims to ensure that English Learners (ELs) and immigrant students achieve English proficiency and develop high levels of academic achievement in English. This also helps all ELs meet the same challenging State academic standards as their peers.
Forney ISD's Intended Use of Funds:
- Salaries for EL and immigrant student support personnel
- Professional and contracted services for specialized instruction
- Professional development tailored for EL and immigrant student education
- Supplies and materials for program implementation
- Parent and family engagement initiatives
- Resources to support student achievement through Language Instruction Educational Programs (LIEPs)
Title IV, Part A – Student Support & Academic Enrichment
Award Amount: $86,953
Intent and Purpose: Subpart 1 of Title IV, Part A (SSAE) grants are designed to improve academic achievement for all students by increasing the capacity of LEAs, schools, and communities to:
- Provide all students with access to a well-rounded education.
- Improve school conditions for student learning (e.g., safe and healthy environments).
- Enhance academic outcomes and digital literacy through improved use of technology.
Forney ISD's Intended Use of Funds:
- Contracted services for specialized programs
- Implementation of school character education programming
- Support for advanced academic programs
- General supplies and materials
- Technology resources, such as software (excluding infrastructure improvements)
