FACT: Equip

A pathway for Forney ISD employees to earn their bachelors degree!

Forney ISD employs many staff members in teacher-like roles, where they learn the skills of teaching, assessing, classroom management, intervention, and more. As a district that values the impact of each individual, Forney ISD has created a way to give back to employees that have given so much of themselves to our district.

Current Forney ISD employees have an opportunity to apply to the FACT: Equip program to further their education and work towards Texas teacher certification. When a candidate is accepted into the program, they begin taking courses to deepen their knowledge and teaching practices through a series of Forney ISD Core Courses, which will be converted to college credit, through our partnership with Indiana Wesleyan University.

Each candidate can gain up to 33 hours of college credit through the Forney ISD Core Courses, which cover topics such as lesson planning, classroom management, instructional strategies, communication, and more.

When a candidate is ready to transition into a Facilitator role, they will assume more classroom-like responsibilities, and begin taking online classes directly through Indiana Wesleyan University. A candidate could graduate in as little as three years with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from IWU. In their final year of preparation, a field supervisor from TeachWorthy would be assigned to walk the candidate through the final step towards Texas teacher certification.

At Forney ISD, an employee can grow into the role that they were always meant to fulfill!
