Forney ISD Esports is now launching district wide for grades 1-12. You can use this website to see all future updates for the program and to register your students for upcoming events. FISD Esports is operating under the goals of engaging students that may not have been engaged previously, offering students additional educational opportunities in the world of esports and helping prepare students for future careers and scholarships in the esport and technology fields. The Esports industry has surpassed a billion dollars in the last year and, on average, 3 out of every four school age students participated in some sort of esports event in the past year.

Currently, FISD Esports is offering local events for our students in grades 1-8. These events utilize the Nintendo Switch platform and are currently focused on Mario Kart and Super Smash Brothers Ultimate. The repertoire of games is expanding and we are looking forward to exploring Rocket League, Mortal Kombat and other titles soon. The current goal is to offer students a pipeline for engaging with esports so that they can join our esport teams at the high school level that will compete for state championships, national rankings, scholarship opportunities and scholarship money. Even though there is a cost to the equipment, staffing and operating of these events, we have done the best we can to make these programs accessible for as many students as possible.

If you would like more information on the FISD Esports program, or if you would like the opportunity to partner with, or otherwise engage in some fashion, with the FISD Esports initiative, you can contact jpwalker@forneyisd.net.
