Information

General Information

This year, Forney ISD is happy to announce that we are expanding our esports program at the Elementary Schools across the district!

Students at each campus will meet three times during the semester and each meeting will include a variety of games, opportunities for all students to get involved, snacks, and information on healthy gaming habits and teamwork. This event is all about exposing kids of all skill levels to a growing industry that is becoming a larger and larger part of everyday life.

This program includes 2 hours of gaming each month(2.5 hours for 3rd grade and above), all the equipment, snacks, drinks, after-school supervision and information on sportsmanship, healthy gaming, other esport opportunities. After school meetings will begin in Late August depending on the campus. Meeting dates will be announced once registration has closed.

Students in the 1st - 4th grade and all skill levels are encouraged and welcome to attend. You MUST register for your students campus EACH semester. Once registered, they are able participate in any esports activity at their campus. Contact information for each elementary school coach will be updated as coaches accept their positions. Meetings will strive to be on the same day each month. However, parents will be notified a week before each meeting and the day before each meeting. Students can sign up at any time, but students cannot attend until their registration is paid in full or they are on a payment plan.

Expectations

This program promotes a fun, safe gaming environment. We cover gaming basics with all students and we do not tolerate poor sportsmanship or other toxic gaming behaviors. Students that are exhibiting these behaviors, disrupting the environment for others or damage equipment may not be allowed to return to the program. In addition, students must be picked up on time. If students are consistently picked up after the dismissal window, the student will not be allowed back to the program.

All students are expected to follow the FISD Code of Conduct and any school rules as well. The goal of this program is to allow kids to have a positive interaction with esports to assist with social and behavioral growth and to foster a growing passion in esports across this generation.

Gaming Specifics

Students will utilize the Nintendo Switch system and Joy-Con controllers to play a variety of games. Games will be age appropriate based on the ESRB rating system. A description of the current rotation of games is listed below:

Mario Kart: This is a kart-racing game in which players compete with characters from the Mario universe.

Super Smash Bros: This is a fighting game in which players engage in brawls with characters from Nintendo and third-party franchises.

Mario Party: This is a collection of mini-games (party games) in which players compete to earn stars and coins.

NBA 2K24: This is a basketball simulation game in which players can select teams from real NBA rosters, compete in tournaments, and play through regular seasons.

FIFA 23: This is a soccer simulation game in which players engage in realistic matches with teams across international leagues.

Rocket League: This is an action-racing game in which players drive futuristic cars to play games of soccer.

Ratings and descriptions are provided by the ESRB. Please keep in mind that ESRB does not rate online game play experiences. Gameplay experiences across any platform should be monitored and discussed with your child before they go online. During esports meetings, all games take place offline in local mode.
