Format
All students are required to attend a short evaluation night (dates listed above). If your student is unable to attend their scheduled evaluation time and date, please communicate with Jake Walker to arrange a new time. If you are unable to attend the evaluations, your player will be placed on a team at random, regardless of practice day preferences. These evaluations are short drills that will helps us divide the skill level equitably amongst all the teams. Siblings or family members may be placed on the same team. In order to accomplish this, please email jpwalker@forneyisd.net prior to teams being assigned. Uniforms will be handed out on the day of the first game. Each student will receive a green and white uniform. The home team will wear the green jersey and the away team will wear the white jersey. In addition, all students will have minimum play time requirements. If a player is present at a game they must receive the minimum play time unless notice is given (in writing) 24 hours in advance to the Office of Engagement and the players parents. Minimum play time can only be revoked for certain reasons such as injury, illness, parent request, or certain behavioral issues.
Players will have at least one scheduled practice each week and a game each Saturday. Practices will be held on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. You are able to choose your practice day preference during the registration process. When possible, all games will be scheduled at either Jackson Middle School, Rhodes Intermediate School or Wilson Elementary. All practices will be schedule at Rhodes Intermediate or Wilson Elementary. Coaches will communicate the practice and game schedule once your student has been placed on a team. There will be 7-8 weeks per season. Practices and games will not take place during weeks or days in which there is no school. For example, there will be no practices or games during Thanksgiving Break.
At the end of the season, the top teams from each division will compete in a single day tournament to determine a league champion. The League Champions and Runners Up will receive medals. When possible, all teams will be placed into the championship day bracket.
For each game, the home team will need to have a parent volunteer run the scoreboard. Each game will have two officials and a court supervisor. The officials will be students from North Forney or Forney High School and will have gone through NFHS officials training to be prepared for the league. The court supervisor will help with court setup, tear down, water jug refills, basic first aid and help answer parents questions. Please keep in mind that these students are still learning as well!
