For Teachers Staff
In April of 2019, TEA released the updated Texas State Plan for Gifted and Talented Education. According to the new state plan, all teachers that work with GT children are required to attend a 30-hour GT foundations course one time and maintain a 6-hour GT update every year. Although the plan only states that the 30-hour foundations course needs to be completed once, it is good practice to refresh the full training every 10 years. If you miss a 6-hour update, you will be ineligible to teach GT students until you refresh your training. GT children can be some of the most challenging students to teach and arming yourself with as much information as possible will help you help these special children reach their full potential!
