Student Teaching Observing Classes Internships

Forney ISD provides placement opportunities for student teachers, clinical teachers, interns, practicum
students, and individuals completing observation hours during the fall and spring semesters.
To be considered for any placement, applicants must submit the district’s online application. As part of
the review process, Human Resources will conduct a required criminal background check. Additionally,
Forney ISD must have an active partnership agreement or confidentiality agreement on file with the
applicant’s university or certification program before a placement can be finalized.
Please note that applying or requesting a placement does not guarantee assignment to a campus.

What Happens Next?
  • Applications must be submitted online. Processing may take a minimum of two weeks.
  • Human Resources will initiate the required criminal background check once the application is received.
  • After the background check has been approved, you will receive a Fast Pass with instructions for completing required fingerprinting.
  • Human Resources coordinates with campus principals and department supervisors to identify appropriate placement opportunities.
  • When a placement is approved, an authorization email including campus assignment details will be sent to the candidate, cooperating/mentor teacher, supervisor, and campus principal. At that point, the candidate may reach out to the assigned campus and mentor teacher.
  • Student teachers are required to attend an intake appointment with Human Resources to receive district email access and a Forney ISD badge.
  • On the first day at the campus, candidates must present a photo ID and the authorization email from Human Resources.

Placement Guidelines
Campus administrators reserve the right to determine how many student candidates their campus can
support at a given time. For that reason, not all requests can be accommodated.
All placement requests must be processed through Human Resources. Candidates should not contact
campuses directly by phone or email to seek assignments. While preferences may be shared, requests
for specific teachers cannot be guaranteed.
Individuals completing classroom observations as part of exploring a teaching career may also consider
applying to work as a substitute teacher. Substitute information is available here.
