FISD Criteria to Be Recommended for a TIA Designation
The Texas Education Agency allows local school districts and expects local school districts to establish criteria/standards applicable to recommendations for TIA designations. The criteria must include teacher observation scores from the appraisal system utilized as well as data from assessments showing the percent of a teacher's students which meet expected growth targets. Based on training and consultation related to the TIA initiative, Forney ISD leaders used the criteria shown below to determine teachers recommended to TEA for designations based on data collected during the 2023-2024 school year. There are three options for meeting the required criteria for each designation possible. It is important to note that no compensation or financial allocations are generated without review/approval by TEA of submitted data. The data analysis performed by TEA is multi-faceted and complex. Part of the data review evaluates recommendations in light of the state standards for both teacher observation and student growth; Forney ISD criteria is very close to the state standards.
Typically, TEA communicates results of their data review for a district sometime during the month of February. The criteria shown above should not be considered permanent. It can be changed/adjusted from year to year by either TEA or Forney ISD. Adjustments by Forney ISD are subject to TEA approval/allowances.
