PLE Hours/Requirements
Professional Learning & PLE
Forney ISD’s professional learning program supports growth for all employees based on identified needs or professional goals that align with district, campus, and program priorities. Its purpose is to foster professional growth, improve job performance, and strengthen organizational development — all to ultimately support student achievement.
Professional Learning Exchange (PLE) lets Forney ISD employees earn professional learning credit while using designated flexible workdays.
Examples of Acceptable Activities for Flexible Professional Learning Exchange (PLE):
-
Attending approved conferences or workshops outside regular work hours
-
Completing college coursework relevant to your educational assignment (up to 12 hours/year)
-
Participating in district or region-sponsored professional learning outside the instructional day
Important Notes:
-
Required district training must be included in the 30 hours.
-
PLE credit is not earned for extra duties, meetings, or trainings during the instructional day.
-
If the required 30 hours are not completed, teachers may be docked pay equivalent to the hours short, which essentially adjusts compensation for the Flexible Professional Learning Days.
