Yes. All Forney ISD PD Officers are licensed peace officers. They are certified by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement.

No. The Forney ISD Police Department hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm. Our officers work campus events and district athletic events after normal business hours. After hours and weekend emergencies are forwarded to the Kaufman County Sheriff's Office through a Memorandum of Understanding. The KCSO will then forward the case to the FISD Police Department for resolution.

Yes. they have statewide authority to make arrests both on and off campus.

None. Police officers are not disciplinarians and should not be used as such. Our role is to investigate violations of law and ordinances in accordance with the authority and power specified by Board Policy. While police actions/classifications may result in the assignment of disciplinary consequence, discipline is the responsibility of the campus administrators.

Board Policy CKE (LOCAL) specifies this jurisdiction as: "...all territory in the boundaries of the district and all property outside the boundaries of the district that is owned, leased, or rented by or otherwise under the control of the district and the board that employ the peace officer or security personnel or that enter into a memorandum of understanding for the provision of a school resource officer." Education Code 37.081 (a)

Yes. Forney ISD Police Officers are authorized to issue traffic citations. Forney ISD Officers will monitor speed in school zones using radar, on or off school property.

Tickets issued by Forney ISD Police Officers are adjudicated in the Justice of the Peace Courts in Kaufman County.

If you do not appear in court or pay your fine, the court may issue a warrant for your arrest. Any police officer may arrest you once the warrant is issued.

Yes. Outside extra jobs go through an administrative review and departmental approval process. You may frequently see a FISD Police Officer in a FISD uniform working events outside our primary jurisdiction such as traffic control, community events, churches, restaurants, movie theaters, and sporting events.
