An Engage Opportunity is a school-based elementary program that invites students to explore their interests in meaningful, hands-on ways. These opportunities are designed to spark curiosity, build excitement around learning, and help students discover passions through engaging experiences. Programs vary by neighborhood campus and connect students to interests that inspire deeper learning and personal growth. Each student on-campus gets to choose a program to explore for the academic year.

Submitting Your Engage Preferences

Engage forms open on Sunday, February 1, 2026 at 3PM. Incoming Kindergarten students will share their Engage preferences after the Forney ISD enrollment period.

Completing Form in Avela:

When logging in to Avela to complete your Opportunity Selections Form, do not click ‘Start a New Form’. Your form will already be in progress due to the sync with Skyward. You can find the form on the main screen once logged in. Simply resume the form progress, then submit. If you have multiple students, you will need to do this for each one.

Trouble Logging into Avela:

We recommend parents use the phone number that is connected to Family 1 in Skyward. It will text a code to that number to authenticate and log into Avela. If you do not know what email or phone number that would be, you can call your home campus PEIMS clerk for that information. If you are still having issues after that attempt, you can complete this google form and someone from our team will be in touch to assist.

What is the goal of the new Engage Opportunities?

The goal is simple: to provide something for every student over the next few years. These opportunities aim to build a hopeful and exciting future for every child, regardless of whether their passion lies in the classroom, on the field, or on the stage. It represents a massive expansion of student opportunities across every elementary campus in the district in the next few years.

When do Engage Opportunities begin?

How are Engage Opportunities different from Academies?

Academies at the OC, the Dual Language Academy, and the Advanced Academics and Fine Arts Academy (AAFAA) will continue with an application process and program specific requirements. Click here to learn more about Academies. The Dual Language Academy will remain at Wilson and expand to Jacobs.

In year one, kindergarten through 4th grade students zoned to 1 of the 5 campuses offering Engage Opportunities will be required to request their preferred opportunity available at that campus. If your family lives outside the zone of a campus or is interested in an opportunity at another campus, transfers within their secondary feeder pattern will be based on availability.

The first phase will launch at five campuses, integrating diverse opportunities directly into the school day. Students will participate in one of the opportunities listed below.
