Forney ISD’s Music Education Program Earns ‘Best Communities for Music Education’ Recognition for 11th Year in a Row
For the eleventh consecutive year, Forney ISD has been honored with the Best Communities for Music Education designation from the NAMM Foundation for its outstanding commitment to music education.
The Best Communities for Music Education designation is given to school districts that have “demonstrated outstanding achievement for providing music access and education to all students.”
“We're absolutely thrilled to receive this recognition again,” said Mario Luna, Director of Fine Arts for Forney ISD. “Our music programs are something special here in Forney, and it shows. I'm incredibly proud of our amazing teachers who pour their hearts into their classrooms every day, and our talented students who bring such passion to their performances.”
Luna answered detailed questions about funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instruction time, facilities, support for the music program, and community music-making programs. Responses were verified by school officials and reviewed by the Music Research Institute at the University of Kansas.
The Best Communities for Music Education designation is now in its 26th year. There were 861 school districts selected in the United States, with 91 being from Texas. Only 26 districts were selected from the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
