Another Memorable Run: Lady Jackrabbits Earn State Runner-Up Finish
Lauren Blackard

The Forney High School Lady Jackrabbits capped off another remarkable season with a second-place finish at the UIL 6A Division II State Softball Championship, falling to Katy High School 7-2 in the state title game.

The loss brought an end to an incredible 24-game winning streak and a 37-4 overall season record. While the Lady Jackrabbits fell just short of a state championship, their accomplishments throughout the season solidified their place among the top softball programs in Texas.

For the second consecutive year, Forney reached the state championship game, a testament to the program's consistency, talent, and determination. Even more impressive, the Lady Jackrabbits accomplished this feat with one of the youngest rosters in the state tournament.

The team featured just one senior starter and consisted of three freshmen, seven sophomores, six juniors, and three seniors. With the majority of the roster expected to return next season, the future remains bright for the Lady Jackrabbits.

Sophomore pitcher Avery Pitts played a pivotal role in Forney's postseason run. In her first full varsity season and first playoff appearance, Pitts entered the state tournament with a remarkable 0.58 earned run average while averaging 13.7 strikeouts per seven innings pitched.

Several Lady Jackrabbits were recognized for their outstanding performances at the state tournament. Congratulations to Avery Pitts, Bailee McGhee, and Kambree Wilson on earning All-Tournament Team honors.

While the season ended one win shy of a state title, the Lady Jackrabbits have much to celebrate. Their resilience, talent, and commitment helped create another memorable chapter in Forney High School softball history.

Congratulations to Coach Eitel, the coaching staff, and the entire Lady Jackrabbit softball program on an outstanding season. The future is bright, and Jackrabbit Nation cannot wait to see what this talented group accomplishes next.
