Becky Dobbs Honored for 20 Years of Service: Kathy Green appointed to FISD Board
Graysen Reid

For 20 years, Becky Dobbs has continuously answered the call to serve as a Forney ISD board member and officer of the board, stepping away only when her own children answered the call to teach in Forney ISD. She is stepping away from the Forney ISD Board of Trustees for family once again, leaving behind her a legacy of service.

“It has been an absolute privilege to serve the families, students, and staff of Forney ISD,” Dobbs said. “I first joined the board to take an active role in my children’s education and to be a voice for parents in our community. While I have taken brief leaves from the board in the past for similar family reasons, my passion for this work has never wavered.”

During the recent board meeting, Forney ISD Board President Greg Pharris led a heartfelt tribute to Dobbs, celebrating her profound impact on the fast-growing district.

“Personally, and on behalf of the entire board, students, staff, and community, I want to thank you for your mentorship, your steady guidance, and your unwavering commitment to doing what is right for kids, always,” Pharris said. “Just when you thought you could take a break, we’d ask you to come back and serve. Time and time again you’ve answered the call. So don’t be surprised if we call again in the future.”

Dobbs, who has five children with her husband, Robert, has lived in Forney for more than 40 years. She remains honored to have given back to the community that has given so much to her family. She served on the board from 2000-2006, 2008-2014, and 2018-2026.

Following Dobbs' departure, the Forney ISD Board of Trustees voted officially to appoint and welcome Kathy Green to fill the vacant seat.

A lifelong educator, Green has been a cornerstone of Forney ISD for more than 45 years, leaving a lasting mark both during her professional career and in retirement. She began her journey as a teacher in Forney ISD before moving into administration, where she excelled as an elementary principal.

Known as a hands-on leader who worked alongside her team and never asked anyone to do something she wouldn’t do herself, Mrs. Green had the distinct honor of opening both Claybon and Crosby elementary campuses, helping shape the early foundation of the district's growth. Her exceptional leadership in building strong school cultures earned her a district Legacy Award, which has only been given to 7 individuals over the last 8 years.

“I am incredibly honored and humbled to accept this appointment to the Forney ISD Board of Trustees,” Green said. “Public education is my lifelong passion, and this district means the world to me. I look forward to working alongside the board to support our wonderful teachers, champion our students, and ensure Forney ISD continues to thrive.”

Board President Pharris noted that Green’s extensive history of service makes her a natural fit for the role.

“Mrs. Green is a true example of service, leadership, and love for public education,” Pharris stated. “Even after her formal retirement, Green has continued to pour her time, energy, and heart into Forney ISD, tirelessly volunteering, mentoring staff, and serving as a passionate advocate for public education. She has been instrumental in helping pass multiple school bonds to benefit local students and actively volunteers at her grandchildren’s schools.”

Please help us thank Mrs. Dobbs for her service, and welcome Mrs. Green to the Forney ISD Board of Trustees.
