Celebrating a Legacy of Excellence: Forney Highsteppers Director Stacie Weisberg
Graysen Reid

In Forney ISD, the Forney High School Highsteppers are making history year after year. Led by Director Stacie Weisberg, the team won back-to-back National Championships at the National Dance Alliance (NDA) competition in 2024 and 2025, adding another accomplishment to their growing list.

But these accomplishments are more than just trophies. They represent the transformation that Weisberg has led, creating a powerhouse of performance and dance education. Weisberg began as Highsteppers director in 2007, leading the team to unparalleled success over the last 19 years. Her commitment, passion, and leadership have been instrumental in creating a culture of excellence.

In the 2025 competition season, the Highsteppers secured multiple National Dance Alliance (NDA) titles, including National Champion in Medium Varsity Game Day & Unleashed Award, National Champion JV Game Day, Best Game Day, 3rd Place JV Hip Hop, 4th Place & Unleashed Large Varsity Hip Hop, 6th Place JV Pom and 9th Place Small Varsity Pom. Beyond NDA, the Highsteppers have also been named HTE Dance Grand National Champions eight times under Weisberg's tenure. The Highsteppers have also earned numerous awards at Showtime Competitions and ADTS Competitions. The Highsteppers are also annual featured performers at the Dallas Holiday Parade and were featured performers at the 2016 Rose Parade in Pasadena, California.

Weisberg's impact extends beyond state awards and national titles. Her program has consistently produced dancers who continue their passion at colleges and universities, including Tyler Junior College, Texas State University, University of North Texas, and Stephen F. Austin State University. Even more impressive, her former students have gone on to dance professionally with teams like the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, The D-Town Crew (Dallas Mavericks), The Texas Legends, The Allen Ice Angels, and more. Former Highsteppers can also be found in public school dance classrooms across the state.

The Highsteppers' success is a testament to Forney ISD's commitment to excellence, showcasing how dedicated educators can create transformative experiences for students.

"Mrs. Weisberg's dedication to her students and the art of dance has created a culture of excellence within Forney ISD," said Forney ISD Director of Theatre, Dance, and Cheer, Jenae Glanton. "We are incredibly proud of her achievements as they are a testament to her extraordinary skill, commitment and passion. Her ability to inspire and nurture young talent will leave a lasting impact on our students and community."
