Forney ISD is expanding its athletic programming with the introduction of UIL boys and girls wrestling, set to begin in the 2026-2027 school year.

The addition of wrestling reflects Forney ISD’s commitment to creating new pathways for students to discover their strengths. Wrestling is one of the fastest‑growing sports in the country, providing athletes with skills including discipline, strategy, physical conditioning, and mental resilience.

Wrestling teams will be at both Forney High School and North Forney High school and teams will compete in official UIL meets and tournaments starting next year. District leaders emphasized that the new program aligns with Forney ISD’s mission to offer diverse, high‑quality programs that support student development both on and off the mat.

“Forney ISD is committed to creating opportunities that help students discover who they are and what they can achieve,” said Forney ISD Executive Athletic Director Neal Weaver. “Wrestling is a sport that builds character and confidence, and we’re excited to bring this opportunity to our students and to watch these programs grow.”
