Forney Independent School District recently announced the District’s 2025-2026 Elementary and Secondary Teachers of the Year. The announcement was made at the Forney Education Foundation’s Teacher of the Year Awards Dinner on Tuesday, April 14, 2026. Forney ISD Superintendent Dr. Justin Terry, Forney ISD Board President Greg Pharris and Board Member Dr. Michael Idemudia announced the winners at the event.
The Forney ISD District Elementary Teacher of the Year is Megan Fisher and the District’s Secondary Teacher of the Year is Nicholas Wilson.
Fisher is a 4th grade math teacher at Crosby Elementary School. Her peers said, “Megan is widely admired as a passionate, creative, and dedicated educator who pours her whole heart into her students and team. Her students are given a safe and encouraging space where they feel seen, valued and excited to learn and she transforms her classroom with fun, engaging, and innovative approaches.”
Nicholas Wilson is a band teacher at Brown Middle School. His peers said, “Nicholas is an exceptional educator who engages students with excellence and is deeply committed to teaching through high standards and a supportive, encouraging environment. He inspires learners through innovative instruction, consistently raising expectations and motivating each student to reach their full potential.”
The District Teachers of the Year were first selected as their Campus Teacher of the Year earlier this year. Each Campus Teacher of the Year was then interviewed by a District Teacher of the Year selection committee consisting of community members, retired teachers and/or administrators from Forney ISD and other professionals.
Fisher and Wilson now move on to the Region 10 Education Service Center (ESC) Region 10 Elementary and Secondary Teacher of the Year competition. The winners of the Region 10 Teacher of the Year competitions move on to be considered for the State Teacher of the Year honor.
