Three Forney ISD students were awarded the Lone Star FFA Degree at the 97th annual Texas FFA State Convention held in Austin June 30-July 4. Baylee Sneed and Madelyn Wylie, students at Forney High School, and Jannah Pfranger, a student at North Forney High School, were one of more than 2,600 FFA members to receive the degree.

The Lone Star FFA degree is the highest degree awarded by the Texas FFA. The degree recognizes members who have received their Chapter degree, been active FFA members for at least two years, have completed at least four semesters of agricultural science at or above the ninth grade level, maintained a supervised agricultural experience (SAE) program, demonstrated leadership skills, and have shown a commitment to the FFA through involvement at the chapter level and above.

The Lone Star degree signifies a high level of dedication and commitment to agricultural education and FFA. Pfranger, Sneed, and Wylie will continue their education this year and apply for their American FFA degrees next spring.

The Texas FFA is the nation’s largest state FFA association with a membership of more than 182,000. FFA gives students the opportunity to apply practical classroom knowledge to real-world experiences through local, state and national competitions.
