Music for All has announced the Forney ISD Middle School Indoor Drumline as a recipient of the 2026 Advocacy in Action Awards. These awards highlight educators and programs that have created an event or idea that is exceptional in their field and community.
The Advocacy in Action awards are presented in five categories: Community Involvement, Elementary Excellence, Innovative Fundraising, Marketing and Promotion, and Student Recruitment, Engagement, and Retention. The Forney ISD Middle School Indoor Drumline is awarded in the Student Recruitment, Engagement, and Retention category.
The Forney ISD Middle School Indoor Drumline was founded in the Spring of 2021 as a way to provide middle school percussion students with unique performance opportunities during the COVID-19 pandemic. The ensemble is made up of 25 middle school percussionists in Forney ISD, all of whom attend either Warren Middle School or Themer Middle School, which feed into Forney High School. This new ensemble mirrors the structure of the existing Forney High School Indoor Drumline. Members of the FHS Indoor Drumline serve as the primary instructional staff for the middle school ensemble, creating a strong bond between students in the middle school and high school programs.
The Advocacy in Action Awards recognize and celebrate the commitment of school administrators, community leaders, teachers and parents who believe in music education and are advocating to ensure that it is part of a comprehensive education for all children.
The recipients will be featured on Music for All’s Advocacy in Action Archive, where their ideas will be available for music educators across the country to learn from and emulate.
