Forney ISD Student Named 2025-26 Positive Athlete of the Year
Lauren Blackard

North Forney High School junior and volleyball player Londyn Pope has been named a 2025-26 Positive Athlete of the Year for the North Texas region by the national organization Positive Athlete.

Positive Athlete recognizes student-athletes across the country who exemplify strong character, leadership, and positivity both on and off the field. This year, more than 1,000 nominations were submitted across North Texas, representing 307 public and private high schools and 37 different sports.

The organization selects athletes who embody the values represented by the acronym O.P.E.R.A.T.E., which stands for Optimistic, Puts Team First, Encouraging, Respectful, Admits Imperfection, True Heart for Others, and Embraces Service.

Pope was recognized for consistently demonstrating these qualities through her leadership, sportsmanship, and dedication to her teammates and school community. She was one of only a select group of student-athletes honored across the North Texas region.

All 2025-26 Positive Athlete award winners will be recognized during the North Texas Positive Athlete Award Experience in late June, where scholarship recipients will also be announced.

Positive Athlete is a national organization dedicated to promoting positivity in youth sports through awards, scholarships, and recognition opportunities for student-athletes across the country.
