The Texas Art Education Association (TAEA) has announced the 109 winners of the 2025 District of Distinction Award. Among this year’s elite list is Forney ISD, recognized for its exemplary commitment to visual arts education.

TAEA, the state’s leading advocate for visual arts education, has traditionally celebrated outstanding educators and programs through this prestigious award. Now in its seventh year, the District of Distinction Award recognizes districts that meet rigorous performance and engagement criteria based on a comprehensive 14-point rubric.

Out of over 1,200 eligible districts across Texas, only 109 met the high standards set forth for the 2024–2025 academic year, placing Forney ISD in the top 8 percent of districts statewide.

This distinction highlights Forney ISD’s commitment to a well-rounded education that weaves visual arts into the learning experience, encourages creativity, supports social-emotional growth, and strengthens connections within the community.

"We’re incredibly grateful for this recognition. It’s a reflection of the hard work our art teachers and students put in every day, and I’m so proud to be part of a district that truly believes in the power of the arts to inspire and connect our kids," said Macka Jones, Director of Visual Arts for Forney ISD.

All 109 award-winning districts, including Forney ISD, will be formally honored at the TAEA District of Distinction Awards Ceremony during the TAEA Fall Conference on Friday, November 21, 2025, in Round Rock, Texas.
