Game On: FHS Alum Neil Nuzum Earns Full-Ride Esports Scholarship

Forney ISD is spotlighting Neil Nuzum, a 2024 graduate of Forney High School, who has turned his passion for competitive gaming into a full-ride scholarship at Lubbock Christian University.

Nuzum, who spent two years as a technology specialist for Forney ISD before enrolling in college, earned the scholarship, valued at $31,420 annually, for his skill and dedication as a member of a competitive esports team specializing in the game Valorant. At Lubbock Christian, Nuzum will continue competing at the collegiate level while pursuing a degree in computer engineering, programming and finance.

His path shows that esports can serve as a legitimate route to higher education and a future career in technology.

"Watching Neil turn his passion for esports into a full-ride scholarship has been such an incredible journey," said Donna Michels, Nuzum's grandmother. "Our entire family is beyond proud of his hard work and dedication, and we can't wait to see him excel both on the digital stage and in his computer engineering career at Lubbock Christian University."

Forney ISD congratulates Nuzum on this achievement and wishes him continued success in his academic and competitive career.
