North Forney High School’s Lady Falcons Volleyball team has been awarded a $1,000 grant through the Grant Teaff Beyond the Game Team Award, an initiative of the Grant Teaff Foundation in collaboration with the Texas High School Coaches Association and the Texas Sports Hall of Fame.

North Forney Head Coach Jose Marrero Vega applied for the award, which recognizes high school athletic programs that exemplify servant leadership and a strong commitment to community service. The Lady Falcons were selected based on their impactful “360 Days of Service” initiative, a program rooted in the belief that leadership extends far beyond the volleyball court.

Throughout the year, the team has consistently given back to the community by hosting special events, organizing clothing drives, feeding the homeless, donating blankets to those in need, and raising funds to support local students and organizations. In partnership with the football program, they also hosted a Walkathon Against Violence, raising funds to support families impacted by domestic violence and empower women seeking a second chance.

“We are proud of our athletic accomplishments, including advancing to the Regional Finals, but what truly defines Lady Falcons Volleyball is not the noise we make on the court, it is the impact we make in our community,” said Marrero Vega. “This program is not only defined by success in competition, but by the way we care for others and lead with compassion.”

The team’s motto guides their mission each day:

“We vow to do what’s right,

Put our team first day and night,

Find our purpose and shape the future,

Work together being ONE.”

This commitment reflects the core values of Forney ISD:

“People First.

Dream Big, Make It Happen.

Find Purpose, Create the Future.

Collaborate, Then Commit.

Do What’s Right.”

“For Lady Falcons Volleyball, service is not about recognition, it is about responsibility. And we are ready to serve,” Marrero Vega added.

Forney ISD is proud of the Lady Falcons and their continued dedication to serving both the Forney community and beyond.
