Warren Middle School math teacher Rachel Bowen has been named September’s honoree by Honored, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to celebrating exceptional educators across the country.

Rachel was nominated by her student, Ethan Hernandez, who praised her for helping students not only master mathematical concepts, but also for inspiring them to step outside their comfort zones and reach their full potential.

When asked what this recognition means to her, Rachel shared:

“All my life, I have wanted to be a teacher. I wanted to help kids prepare for their future and strive beyond what they thought was imaginable. I always say that I want kids to remember me after their 8th-grade year. I want them to have valuable things they can use throughout their life—yes, maybe math—but also life skills that help them become the best version of themselves. When Ethan nominated me and mentioned how I did this for him, it was so impactful for me.

As far as Forney, I love Forney. I have worked here my entire career and I truly feel as if this is home. I love the relationships that have been built throughout the years and the ones that are still being built. I believe the best way you could say this is, Forney is my family and my home away from home! I truly feel blessed to have had the opportunity to start my career here and to watch it develop over the last 20 years.”

As part of this recognition, Rachel is featured in a podcast episode sharing her journey as an educator. You can listen to her story and learn more about her impact here: bit.ly/46a8H22

Congrats, Coach Bowen! This is well deserved!
