Through technology, our students are provided enhanced modes of learning, while developing the skills that will be necessary to compete in their future society. Likewise, today's use of technology by district staff results in an overall increase in productivity, accuracy and creativity.

    To ensure these benefits are realized, Forney ISD maintains a technology strategy that is fully integrated with district curriculum and professional needs.

  • MyFISD Bookmarks

    Earlier this Spring, Forney ISD IT began copying all of our district bookmarks to the MyFISD portal, and set it as the home page for all district users.With the start of summer, we are finishing the bookmark migration to MyFISD.

    Effective immediately, all Forney ISD bookmarks will be accessed by logging into MYFISD. The managed bookmarks folder on the Google Chrome toolbar will be removed."

  • New Help Desk Platform

    This summer, Forney ISD is adopting a new Help Desk platform powered by Incident IQ. The new Help Desk will conveniently unify IT, Facilities Maintenance, and Transportation under one web portal.

    The migration to a new Help Desk is a large undertaking, and will be staged through the summer. The initial migration will just be for IT services, and will be completed by June 1st. Facilities Maintenance and Transportation are expected to join us on the new platform by the end of June, with more details to come.

    We will begin the initial migration process on May 31st. During this migration, users may have trouble accessing the existing Help Desk. We ask for your patience on this day, and expect the migration to be completed by the morning of June 1st.

    At this time, the IT migration to our new Help Desk platform is complete. We will continue to fine tune the new experience over the coming weeks and will complete the migration of our Facilities Maintenance and Transportation Departments from SchoolDude by the end of the month.

    To add clarity to our previous update, while we have migrated to the new platform for day-to-day operations, not all existing tickets have been migrated. Over the coming days, we will move any currently open requests from the old Help Desk platform into our new system.

  • Service Outage: FISD WiFi

    Forney ISD IT is currently investigating an interruption to WiFi services. At this time, only student devices appear to be affected.

    We are actively investigating the issue and hope to have a resolution soon. Updates will be posted here as they are available.

    The issue was identified and corrected. If you continue to experience issues, please submit a Help Desk request.

  • Google Reminders Will Migrate to Tasks

    Google Assistant and Calendar Reminders will be automatically migrated to Google Tasks starting May 22, 2023.  Where will I find my reminders that are converted to tasks? To view your tasks, go to the Tasks calendar instead of the Reminders calendar. You can also go to Google Tasks, or ask Assistant, for your tasks. If your task is:
    • Completed: It will be crossed out on your calendar grid.
    • Uncompleted: It will appear on your calendar. If overdue, it appears as a “Pending task” for up to 30 days, unless completed. Tasks uncompleted for more than 30 days can be displayed in the Tasks app.
    Tip: Recurring tasks appear on your calendar grid on a rolling basis. As time passes, your remaining recurring tasks appear automatically.

  • Service Outage: Securly Web Filter

    Update: As of 11:47 AM, Securly is reporting all services are back to operating as normal.  If you are still seeing issues, first please try to restart your Chrome browser. If you continue to have issues, please submit a help desk ticket.

     

    Forney ISD IT is currently investigating reports of Securly WebFilter inaccurately blocking sites. We are currently investigating an issue where extension users are being blocked from going to clean sites. The sites are shown as Network Misuse and the Reason listed is Securly Domain Blocking Detected. Securly engineers are currently looking into the issue.  More updates to follow.

  • Security Changes to “Login with Google”

    Effective May 10th, 2023, Forney ISD is restricting the “Login with Google” feature to only approved applications. This change comes from a Google recommendation to all educational institutions, in order to increase the security and privacy of our staff and student data.

    If you have an application you would like to add to our list of supported softwares, please submit a Help Desk request.

  • Reminder: PaperCut Changes for 2023/24 School Year

    Earlier this year, we shared that changes were coming to PaperCut this summer. As we near June 1st, we want to re-iterate on the changes that Forney ISD Staff can expect to see in their print experience.

    Beginning June 1st, Forney ISD will begin using PaperCut Accounting to track device and resource utilization in our print environment by campus and/or department.

    This change will impact our PaperCut environment in the following ways:

    • Device features will no longer be restricted to certain user groups. All users will be able to use all enabled features on each device. Current restrictions will be removed.
    • Before completing any action that would incur a cost, users will be required to choose an accounting code for allocating that cost. Campuses and Departments will be able to track their print spending, no matter the location or device.
    • Individual user balances will stay in place and can continue to be managed by campus PaperCut administrators.
    • All A3 and A4 print devices not compatible with PaperCut Secure Print or Embedded Account Selection will be retired.
    • Any A2 or A1 print devices (poster printers) will remain, but may require a Help Desk request to be enabled after June 1st.

    This change is now live. While originally planned to take effect during tonight's maintenance window, this change was made this afternoon to allow IT time to collect feedback and take corrective actions this evening.

  • Service Outage: Clever

    UPDATE: 4/6 - 1:20 PM Clever login issues have been resolved.  Please submit a help desk ticket if you continue to have issues connecting with Clever.

     

    Forney ISD IT is currently investigating reports of Clever being unavailable. We are working with their tech support to resolve the issue ASAP.

  • MyFISD: Password Resets

    ISSUE HAS BEEN RESOLVED - Please resume password resets as needed.

     

    Beginning this morning, the password change feature of MyFISD has stopped functioning correctly. We are working with the vendor to identify the issue and have it repaired.

    We will communicate any updates as they are made available. In the meantime, please do not attempt to change your password in MyFISD.
