    What does the Associate Degree plan look like for Forney ISD students?

    My child is having difficulty completing the Dallas College online application. It will not give me their Dallas College ID. 

    Please use the Dallas College Application User Guide to assist with completing the online application. Make sure that your student keeps their DCCCD ID as this will be the only way they can access their econnect account in the future.     When do we pay for our student's dual credit classes?

    Currently, students do not pay tuition for dual credit courses that are taken during the school year as a regular semester course (16-week courses). Students do have to pay for textbooks and any instructional materials required by the professor of the course. If a student is taking a course that is not on the MOU with Dallas College, they are required to pay full tuition. 

     

    What is the difference in weight for GPA between AP and Dual Credit classes?

    AP and Dual credit classes are weighted the same, both are on a 6.0 scale. 

     

    How do the dual credit grades transfer to the high school?

    Students will earn grades for both high school and college if taken during the typical semester (16 week courses). If a student takes a class during the summer or a shorter term, they will earn a PG and the course will not count towards GPA. The grade that Dallas College submits to Forney ISD will be the grade that is entered into Skyward, with the exception of D or F. If a student receives a D or F in a course that acts as a prerequisite, they will be removed from the next course in the sequence. If a student earns a D at the college level, they will earn a 70 on their high school transcript so that they still receive high school credit. If a student earns a F, they will receive a 60 and will have to retake the course at the high school and college level. 

     

    My child has already taken the TSI and/or a dual credit course at another school. What do I need to do?

    If a student has previously taken the TSI and/or a dual credit course with another college, he/she will need to request a transcript from that college and return their transcript with their enrollment packet to their high school counselor.

    How much does it cost to take the TSI?

    Students will be able to take the TSI two times free of charge. If a student needs/wants to take the TSI more than two times, he/she will be charged a fee of $10.00

     

    Can my child take the TSI at Eastfield if they want to take the TSI before or after the campus testing dates? 

    Yes, if a student wants to take the TSI before the scheduled time he/she can go to Eastfield. Please contact the Eastfield Testing Center to set up an appointment for testing. 

     

    Can my child receive accommodations on TSI?

    Students will be able to file the necessary paperwork with Eastfield to take TSI with accommodations if applicable. Please go to the following website and go to Eastfield Testing Center: https://www.dallascollege.edu/resources/testing-centers/pages/default.aspx

     

    How do I know if my child is exempt from the TSI?

    If a student meets one of the below criteria he/she is exempt from the TSI. A copy of the student’s SAT/ACT or previous TSI score will need to be turned in with enrollment packet.

    • SAT - a combined critical reading and math score of 1070 with a minimum of 500 on critical reading test (student shall be exempt for both the reading and writing), and/or a minimum of 500 on the math test (student shall be exempt for math)
    • New 2016 SAT scores for SAT Testing administered on or after March 5, 2016: a minimum score of 480 on the Evidence-Based Reading and Writing (EBRW) test shall be exempt for both reading and writing sections of the TSI Assessment; a minimum score of 530 on the mathematics test shall be exempt for the mathematics section of the TSI Assessment. There is no combined score.
    • Mixing or combining scores from the SAT administration prior to March 2016 and the SAT administered on or after March 5,2016 is not allowable. The newly approved scores became effective on August 10, 2016.
    • ACT - a student with a composite of 23 with a minimum of 19 on the English test shall be exempt for both the reading and writing sections, and/or 19 on the math test (student shall be exempt for the math section).
    • PSAT - EBRW 460 and Math 510 (*only PSAT 10)
    • English II EOC Score - 4000 or higher (only exempts from TSIA2 ELAR)
    • Algebra I EOC Score - 4000 or higher and Algebra II score of C or higher (only exempts from TSIA2 Math)
