- When new schools open
- To keep from overcrowding schools
- To efficiently utilize space
- Ensure every child has a seat

How does Forney ISD determine attendanze zone boundaries?
- Evaluate current enrollment
- Analyze growth projections from demographers
- Evaluate current facilities and capacities at each campus
- Board sets rezoning goals/parameters
- Demographers propose a draft plan
- Community feedback is received
- Demographers adjust plans if necessary
- Board adopts plan

What are the attendance zone modification goals?
Optimize Space – Efficient use of buildings to reduce overcrowding in building when possible.
Growth – Best effort will be made to prepare for future growth
Campus Proximity - Have students attend the school closest to where they live.
Natural Lines – Will attempt to use natural boundary lines when possible.

What are the high school zones going to be?
High school attendance zones are not proposed to change.
They will remain the same for 2021-2022.

Will this impact the Dual Language or Advanced Academics and Fine Arts Academy (AAFAA)?
Pre-K-4th Dual Language Academy will remain at Criswell Elementary. The current 1st and 2nd grade AAFAA will expand to Kindergarten-3rd for fall 2021 and remain at Blackburn Elementary. Families in those programs received an email link to be a part of a steering committee to make recommendations for the future of the program.

Can I request a transfer?
Parents may submit a petition to transfer their student/s to another campus within the District during designated windows of time. Guidelines are in place to ensure consistency in whether the petitions are approved or denied.
Significant determining factor will be the available capacity of the requested campus.
