Virtual Academy & Chromebook Rollout Email 8-11-2020

Good evening Virtual Academy parents/students 

We are so excited for the start of school on Monday, August 17th and wanted to reach out to our families that have chosen the VIRTUAL LEARNING ENVIRONMENT for the 1st quarter (8/17-10/09).  We are currently finalizing schedules and placing your student’s in their virtual classrooms this week. Please review the following important information for our Virtual students. 

Technology

Forney ISD is hosting a Drive-thru Student Chromebook Rollout at the locations and times listed below. All K-12 virtual academy students who do not already have a district assigned device can come by and request one. This is only for new device pick up, all requests for chromebook repairs must be submitted through the student help desk (in the Forney ISD mobile app or located on the FISD technology department webpage).

We request that you have your student's name, grade level, and ID # written on a slip of paper that you can hand to the drive-thru attendant. We appreciate your cooperation in speeding up the rollout process.

1st Day of School Expectations

All Virtual students will need to log in to Canvas using any electronic device starting at 8:30 a.m., but must login by 9:30 am. Middle School and High School Virtual students will need to login to their 2nd period Canvas course. 

If your student is not able to log on to any FISD program please place a helpdesk ticket (https://helpdesk.forneyisd.net) in and a tech will be with you ASAP.  

Any student that does not login to Canvas by 9:30 am will be marked absent and coded as a no show in Forney ISD. This means that students that we cannot account for as present will be withdrawn from FISD. 

To assist in ensuring all students are accounted for, Virtual students will also need to complete the Virtual Check-In Google Form on the first day of school. This form will be sent to all virtual students/parents on Monday morning, August 17th.

1st Day Canvas / Google Virtual Check In

  • All virtual students must login to their Canvas course on August 17th by 9:30 am
  • All virtual students must complete the Virtual Google Check-In Form on August 17th. (This form will be sent out on Monday morning)
