Forney ISD High School Theatre Departments Win Several Awards at the Texas Thespians State Festival and Contest

Theatre students from North Forney High School and Forney High School recently participated in the Texas Thespians State Festival and Contest and won several awards.

The North Forney High School theatre students took top honors in the Tech Challenge competition winning first place overall in the state Fold a Drop Contest. The members of the NFHS Tech Theatre team were Travis Speer, Rick Dominguez, George Stephens and Mariel Lamai.

Speer and Dominguez also teamed up in the Tech Challenge Individual Sound Set Up Contest and the duo won first place.

Several North Forney student thespian students won numerous acting awards as well. Each of them won the State Superiors in their respective competitions.

Rick Dominguez and Jay Stevens received a State Superior award in Duet Acting; Jeffery Miller won a State Superior award in Solo Musical; Jailee Wiser won a State Superior award in Solo Musical; Emma Wilson won a State Superior in Solo Musical and Alison Begin and Sydney Preskitt won a State Superior in Duet Musical. All of these winners qualified for national competition.

Forney High School theatre students also won awards at the festival. Angel Ramierz and Aaron Rosales received a State Superior in Duet Musical and Sadie Moss won a State Superior in Stage Management. All three students qualified for the national competition.
