New Director of Student Services

Ronald Sterling, Jr. Forney ISD welcomes Ronald Sterling, Jr. as the District’s new Director of Student Services. Sterling comes to Forney ISD from Sunnyvale High School in Sunnyvale, Texas where he has served as the school’s principal since 2014.

Sterling began his career in education in 2000 as a teacher and coach at Arp High School in Arp, Texas. He has taught science and served as a Special Education instructor at Huntsville High School in Huntsville, Texas and at John Tyler High School in Tyler, Texas where he also coached football, basketball and track.

In 2008 he accepted his first administration position as the Discipline Facilitator and Assistant Principal at John Tyler High School. In 2012 he was named the Associate Principal at Little Elm High School in Little Elm, Texas before being named the Principal at Sunnyvale High School in 2014.

In 2014, he was named the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals (TASSP) Region 10 Assistant Principal of the Year.

“Mr. Sterling brings a great deal of knowledge and experience regarding student services and support to Forney ISD,” said Rick Geer, Forney ISD’s Chief of Human Services. “Throughout his career in education he has developed and implemented a number of student success programs that significantly helped reduce discipline issues. We feel that he will be a great asset to the continued success of our students here in Forney ISD.”

The Forney ISD Director of Student Services supervises and coordinates student discipline procedures for the District and works with the community, students and parents to assist with resolving issues. Sterling will work directly with principals and administrative staff on student/staff and policy issues.

“I am extremely excited to join the outstanding Forney ISD administrative team and I look forward to meeting and working with all of the exceptional teachers and students in this great District,” Sterling stated. “As an education leader, I am dedicated to improving and supporting teaching and learning and I am committed to ensuring student engagement in an effort to achieve success for all students. Forney ISD students already excel and I look forward to helping them reach even greater heights in their education endeavors!”

Sterling received his Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology with a Minor in Criminal Justice in 2000 from the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas. He earned his Master’s Degree in Education Administration from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona in 2010.
