Forney ISD Announces 2018-2019 District Teachers of the Year

The Forney Independent School District recently announced the 2018-2019 District Elementary and Secondary Teachers of the Year. This year's Elementary District Teacher of the Year is Angela Harlan and the Forney ISD Secondary District Teacher of the Year is Sarah Cypert.

Harlan is a 4th grade reading teacher at Johnson Elementary School. She has been a teacher for 14 years and has taught in Forney ISD for 10 years. 

"Angie Harlan is a dedicated professional," said Johnson Elementary School Principal Nancy McElroy. "She is not only dedicated to her students but to her colleagues as well. She continues growing and learning as is evidenced by the completion of her masters and her participation in the Forney ISD Leadership Academy." 

Cypert has been a teacher for 13 years and is also in her 10th year teaching in Forney ISD.  She teaches Pre AP Algebra I, Algebra I and Algebra II.

"Sarah has been an exceptional teacher and Algebra I Team Leader at Forney High School for several years," said Forney High School Principal Dr. Jonathan Campbell. "She demonstrates a high level of commitment to her students and has taken on the leading role in the math department. She has done an outstanding job!"

Harlan and Cypert move on to compete in the Region 10 Elementary and Secondary Teacher of the Year selections. The Region 10 Teachers of the Year will be announced in August of 2019.

Forney ISD District Teachers of the Year

Angela Harlan, (left) was named the Forney ISD District Elementary Teacher of the Year and Sarah Cypert, (right) was announced as the District Secondary Teacher of the Year for Forney ISD. The announcement was made at the Forney ISD Board of Trustees meeting on Monday May 13, 2019.
