Forney High School Student Council Recognized as Sweepstakes Council by Texas Association of Student Councils
For the fourth year in a row, the Forney High School Student Council has been recognized by the Texas Association of Students Councils (TASC) as a Sweepstakes Council. To earn this honor the Forney High School Student Council must be recognized as an Outstanding Student Council. In addition, the Forney High School Student Council had to receive outstanding recognitions in a number of categories including Drugs, Alcohol, Safety and Health (DASH); Pride and Patriotism and Energy and Environment. The council had to also submit a Community Service Report. The award is sponsored by the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals.
The Forney High School Student Council members develop proven skills in team building, problem solving, project planning, and decision making. Through their co-curricular activities, these student council members serve their communities while strengthening their academic and civic skills.
TASC is a non-profit serving high school and middle level student councils in Texas. The organization develops leadership abilities in students, promotes democracy as a way of life and upholds high standards for local councils. With nearly 1,200 member schools, it is the largest state student leadership organization in the United States.
