100th win

North Forney High School Lady Falcons varsity basketball coach, Don Fleming, hit a major milestone on Tuesday with his 100th career victory. This memorable win was celebrated by Coach Fleming and his team in front of all spectators present at the game against Rockwall-Heath High School.

“He runs an outstanding program that has set numerous high water marks for NFHS,” said Forney ISD Director of Athletics, Neal Weaver. “He is influential throughout the campus and was promoted to assistant athletic coordinator.  He has served in this capacity for four years.”

Prior to his current role, Fleming was hired as a coach at Brown Middle School, but was quickly moved up to a high school assistant at the first available opportunity. He successfully served for a couple of years at North Forney as assistant and then was promoted to head coach.  They have been a perennial playoff team including multiple regional tournament berths.

“I have to give Coach Fleming a lot of credit for the time and dedication he puts into the team. We are talking about a man that will watch film like it is a whole tv series,” said varsity player Zakariah Christian. “He always says ‘bring what the team needs’, and going into Tuesday's game I knew we had no choice but to win.”

This season is the first for the girls varsity basketball team to compete in Texas Division 6A, and the win moves them forward into the playoffs. The first round will be played on Monday, February 13, at J.J. Pearce High School against Sachse.
