Forney ISD Dual Language Academy will Transition to Ed Wilson Elementary
At the March Board of Trustees meeting, Forney ISD announced that Ed Wilson Elementary will become the Dual Language Academy campus beginning in the Fall of 2024. The program is currently located at Criswell Elementary school and will continue to serve as the campus next school year.
Criswell has grown quickly with new families moving into the neighborhood and the Dual Language program is expanding. Wilson Elementary, which is being built near the Jackson/Rhodes and OC campuses, will serve the program beginning in the 2024-2025 school year.
Maribel Sanchez, current principal at Criswell Elementary, will continue there next year before transitioning to principal of the Wilson Elementary Dual Language Academy. For the 2024-2025 school year, Criswell Elementary will transition to a neighborhood school.
The Dual Language Academy promotes bilingualism, biliteracy, and multiculturalism to students enrolled in the program. Ultimately, the academy creates an environment that fosters strong, long-term academic achievement and builds cognitive skills while acquiring a second language.
